The Graphic Novel
The quasi-historical graphic novel, “From Evliya Çelebi: What Became of Gulabi Agha (Evliya Çelebi’den: Gülabi Ağa’nın Başından Geçenler)”, is the result of meticulous work by Mustafa Delioglu that spanned more than ten years. Written and illustrated by Delioglu, this dark and mystical story is based on the writings of Evliya Çelebi, the famous 17th-century Turkish traveller.

"[This] is one of Evliya Çelebi’s extraordinary narratives. I have exaggerated and extended this remarkable tale and presented it to you in the form of a graphic novel."
—Mustafa Delioglu

The tale recounts the adventures of Gulabi Agha, an exceptionally curious yet clueless man, as Ottoman Istanbul is ailing under a terrible epidemic. Clandestine circles and worlds that are not meant for mere mortals wait for our ‘hero’ with not-so-welcoming arms... Drawn on paper and digitally colourised, the graphic novel is one of Mustafa Delioglu's masterpieces, combining diverse techniques across 96 pages.
